Reference Department
A Reference Clinic is an existing family medicine practice in which a family physician already works and currently ensures a high professional standard of care. The clinic meets the required evaluation criteria for inclusion in the network of reference clinics and is prepared to further enhance its work content in line with the following recommendations:
- Protocol for managing chronic patients,
- Management of chronic disease registries,
- Broader preventive activities (using designated tools and targeting defined populations),
- Achievement of quality indicators,
- Performing certain procedures at the primary care level.
A registered nurse also works in the reference clinic and performs specific activities within her professional competencies, for which she is responsible. The purpose of the reference clinic is to use these examples to develop a model that defines the future framework of family medicine practices at the national level. The goals of the reference clinic are to:
- Increase the quality and cost-efficiency of patient care,
- Improve the satisfaction of both patients and staff at the primary care level.
